Seldon Rosser – A Legal High – Podcast
This case study shows how Brainbox Marketing worked with Seldon Rosser to create the A Legal High podcast, and how it’s helped them connect with candidates.
The Marketing Situation
From the candidate perspective, the ‘buying cycle’ for recruitment services is typically long. A person might typically stay in a job for 3-5 years, so the marketing challenge is how does a recruitment agency keep in touch between job placements?
The Brief
The brief was to find a way to build Seldon Rosser’s profile with candidates and clients in an engaging and professional way.
The Process
The first step was to talk with the agency’s directors, Graham Seldon and Katie Rosser, about their vision for the marketing of the agency.
Graham had the ambition to launch a podcast called A Legal High and to Brainbox Marketing, it was a great strategic fit because it would allow Seldon Rosser to:
- Invite leaders from the legal industry to discuss challenges affecting business development, marketing and communications professionals, and more importantly, how those challenges can be addressed.
- Create a useful learning tool for marketing, business development and communications professionals, and a reason to stay in touch with Seldon Rosser between placements.
- Profile Seldon Rosser to both candidates and clients and showcase their expertise in building successful careers in the legal industry.
We worked with Seldon Rosser to:
- Develop the podcast strategy, including the format and distribution model.
- Set up the technical components including the podcast hosting, web page, iTunes and Spotify accounts.
- Produce the podcast including writing scripts, booking guests, recording, editing and producing the podcast.
- Promote the podcast via social media and email marketing.
Results
A Legal High was launched on 1 February 2019 via social media, email and on iTunes and Spotify.
In its first season, A Legal High was downloaded (unique downloads) more than 1500 times. Through the podcast, Seldon Rosser built a community of loyal subscribers who regularly engaged with the podcast.
The podcast allowed Seldon Rosser to build its brand authority and expertise among ‘winners of business’ in the legal industry. But the podcast also caught the attention from law firm leaders, like CEOs and Partners.
The podcast sparked new job inquiries and reconnected Seldon Rosser with candidates with whom they’d lost touch.
In addition, Seldon Rosser received in-bound inquiries from marketing departments asking if their Managing Partner could be a guest on the podcast.
